The Mashpee Commons
The Mashpee Commons is an open-air setting that serves as the unofficial downtown for the town of Mashpee. It was a pioneer in "New Urbanism," a design philosophy that transformed what was once a traditional 1960s strip mall into a walkable, New England-style village.
Five miles and a 13-minute drive from Tidewatch is the Commons which is a wonderful place to wander, dine and shop. There are two free car chargers as well as many for-pay Tesla superchargers that can fill-up your EV while you have lunch or dinner. The Regal movie theater has six screens to show all the newest features.
Unlike a typical mall, Mashpee Commons is designed with traditional streets, sidewalks and crosswalks. Architecture features colonial-style facades and two-story buildings, often with shops on the ground floor and offices or apartments above. Parking is tucked away in lots behind the buildings or available along the streets to keep the focus on pedestrians.
